Pawning (or pledging) is just a simple alternative way of borrowing money. You leave an item of value as security and you receive a loan. When you settle the loan and charges, you get the item back. It really is very simple and only takes a few minutes. No forms to complete, no credit checks, no waiting for an answer, no fuss!
We will value the item and loan you money against the value.
Loan contracts are for a maximum six month period but can be repaid, in one payment, at any time within that period, but you only pay (on a monthly basis) for the time you are borrowing the money. If you are unable to repay the loan at the end of six months, a new loan contract can be arranged, providing the outstanding charges have been paid.
For loans over 100 GBP we will write to remind you two weeks before the expiry date, thus giving you time to redeem them. If you decide not to redeem the item after six months, the pawned item will be sent for sale by public auction, prior to public auction we will inform you of the time, date and place of the auction with an indication of the reserve price. After the auction we will send you a statement of account, if the proceeds of the sale less the selling costs are greater than the amount owed, we will pay you that difference. On the other hand if the sum is less, then you will be liable for that difference.
You will be required to produce identification, in the form of a passport, photo driving licence, as well as a recent utility bill.
